The Seminole Innovators program provides undergraduate students from all majors with a pathway to experiential learning related to innovation and technology through coursework and extracurricular activities.

Students that successfully complete the program requirements are recognized as “Seminole Innovators” at the end of the academic year. 

  • Check out the events and activities offered through the Innovation Hub and its partners, and plan to attend as many as you are able to throughout semester.

    Consider registering for innovative classes like ENT3607 Innovation by Design, IDS 1107 Future Innovators, or IDS2141 Innovation and Emerging Technologies. Strive to accumulate 40 hrs of innovative activities

    (an average of only three a week)!

  • Plan a semester-long project that you can show off at the springtime Seminole Innovator Showcase.

    Consider working with your friends on team projects, or challenging yourself in competitions, or working with departments on special campus projects. Put your new skills to work for you!

  • Showcase your innovative work with other Seminole Innovators at the annual Showcase of Innovation and collect your Seminole Innovator medallian!

Seminole Innovators RSO

Registered Student Organzition

Seminole Innovators has started a new RSO, created in conjunction with the FSU Innovation Hub. Through events and activities students will be able to build unique and marketable skills, gain valuable experience with cutting edge technology, receive recognition for their work, and collaborate to solve problems in creative, and innovative ways.

Build Skills.

Work with a wide range of tools and emerging technologies including hardware, such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and virtual reality devices, software, such as blockchain, machine learning, data analysis, and the combination of both, such as with the Internet of Things.

Broaden Experiences.

Synthesize and apply knowledge through practical experiences. Students will engage in creative problem solving while leveraging gained skills to design new solutions.

Collaborative Culture.

Meet and collaborate with students, faculty, departments and partners to work together to create novel and effective solutions to complex problems. There are opportunities to address real-world challenges as creative problem solvers while expanding networking.

Recognition.

Students will be able to engage in initiatives either as spectator or participant and be recognized for their innovative contributions on innovative projects, idea competitions, hackathons, annual showcases, and Lunch Hour events.

Innovative Skills

Innovative skills include technical skills such as 3D printing, computer programming with Python, game development with Unity, VR exploration, or statistical analysis with SPSS, or innovative methods such as Design Thinking, Lean Startup, or Agile Development.

Innovative Experiences

Innovative experiences include activities in which student’s innovative skills are put to use. These include coursework projects, ideathons, hackathons, competitions, special campus projects, volunteer work, design projects, undergraduate research, student leadership, community service, and more.

Qualities that define a Seminole Innovator…

SELF-MOTIVATED

Seminole Innovators are expected to be active participants in their own education, proactively seeking out and taking advantage of opportunities to learn new ideas. How did this skill or experience demonstrate a mindset where you are driven to expand your personal knowledge?

CREATIVE

Seminole Innovators are expected to use their creativity, curiosity, and imagination to develop new ideas, and expand upon those ideas through iterative design methods. How did this skill or experience demonstrate your creativity in response to unexpected challenges or serendipity?

COLLABORATIVE

Seminole Innovators combine their knowledge, skills, and perspective with others who contribute different knowledge, skills, and perspectives, in order to innovate beyond the ability of one individual.  How did this skill or experience demonstrate your ability to collaborate with others to explore solutions that you could not have discovered on your own?

COMPASSIONATE

Seminole Innovators seek to improve life for people by fully understanding and empathizing with a human need through ethnographic and scholarly research in order to develop a new and effective solution that addresses the need.
